Which is The Best Antivirus for Windows 7

My name is Gary Banham and I am known as an expert in the field of PC Security. I have primarily worked in the security software industry but have fairly extensive knowledge in the hardware area also. This blog is here so you can decide on an antivirus solution which works for you and I am am going to focus particularly on the best antivirus for windows 7.

The best antivirus for Windows 7 is, by a long way, AntiVirus 2011. I’ve run extensive tests using the following anti-virus apps:

Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2011 , ESET NOD32 Antivirus 4AntiVirus 2011Bitdefender AntiVirus Plus 2012, Norton Antivirus 2011.

There are other applications but they just don’t cut it. My mission was to find the best of the best.

On to the testing…

The first task was getting each test machine riddled with viruses, NOT AS HARD AS YOU WOULD THINK! I ended up with a hard drive of 80GB having 1784 different types of virus, malware and spyware :D

There’s a few websites/downloads which certainly helped me out in this area ;) I then tested each application extensively, you can view the results below.

As you can see, in every test AntiVirus 2011 outperformed the other AV applications. One think to note in particular, is the resourse usage. AntiVirus 2011 does not slow down your machine AT ALL. Every machine I have ran it on has continued to run like a dream! It also finished scanning faster than all the other applications AND removed 100% of the viruses.

Scan Time

Scan Time: Lower = Better

The speediest AV solution here is AntiVirus 2011 which finished after just 4 minutes , Kaspersky came very close behind in 2nd place and Bitdefender AntiVirus Plus 2012 didn’t do too badly either.

Memory Usage

Peak memory usage: Lower = Better

The winner by a mile here is AntiVirus 2011, operating at a maximum of just 36MB. Around one fifth of what NOD32 used!

Detected Viruses

Detected Viruses: Higher = Better

This scan was performed on the same hard disk with 80GB data – it was loaded with 1784 different types of spyware, malware and Viruses :) Here, again,  AntiVirus 2011 is King. It detected and removed EVERY SINGLE VIRUS , Bitdefender and NOD32 also showed respectable results.

I have to say it was pretty close between AntiVirus 2011 and Bitdefender but AntiVirus 2011 came out on top. There were a few viruses that slipped through with Bitdefender but AntiVirus 2011 removed 100% – I also tested adding all the viruses whilst AntiVirus 2011 was active and it stopped ALL OF THEM before they even got a chance to propogate my system.

Antivirus 2011

I was very fond of way that AntiVirus 2011 was very friendly in terms of user experience and resources. You certainly don’t need to be an expert to operate it and it used minimal RAM and CPU – This left my computer’s processing power free to be used on the applications which I use.

The price is also a strong selling point, and you can get a discount of 30% at the moment. This will only be active for a short while.

Click HERE to buy with the 30% discount. (It gets added automatically)

I hope you enjoyed reading about my experiment as much as I did doing it! The results are out, Gary Banham officially rates AntiVirus 2011 as the best antivirus for Windows 7. Let’s take a look at Avast Anti-virus. Avast offers a free solution for home users, making it the best antivirus for Windows 7 owners who use their computer for recreational use. Norton Antivirus is perhaps the oldest virus solution on the market, but with the previously mentioned softwares, it is no longer the best Antivirus for Windows 7.
